Today I am going to write about how to apply henna to get shining, smooth and glossy hair. I see many of them applying henna almost daily. Before I even start who should and how to apply henna, let me tell you what henna is.
Henna is a powder prepared from the leaves of the plant Lawsonia inermis or widely called as the henna tree. The leaves of this tree naturally give an orange color to hair, hands and legs when applied and left overnight.The leaves are first dried and then grinded coarsely or smoothly to a powder consistency.
In India many people apply henna as a hair colorant. We also use it to decorate our hands with Mehendi. Henna is one kind of substituent and choice to other dyes and dye products. Some people use both the products to compare the results. But I have not yet used dye as I personally prefer henna to dye. But who knows! Might be one day I might switch to using dye to highlight my hair !!
Ok so now, lets get started! To apply henna you need
Egg white (optional -1)
Beetroot juice - 1/4 cup
Lemon juice - 3-4 drops
Curd -2 spoons
Coffee powder - 1 heapfull of spoon
Powdered henna - as required
Take a bowl and mix the egg white and curd. Beat them properly until they form a frothy layer.
Then in another bowl mix lemon juice, beetroot juice and coffee powder. Then pour the henna powder above this mixture. Finally add the already beaten egg white and curd to this and mix well. Leave this aside overnight and apply to your scalp, tips and roots the next morning.
Let it be on for 45 min- 1 hr and then wash your hair thoroughly with plain lukewarm water. You can also leave he henna for 2 hours after application if you have lof of white hairs. But remember that you are not supposed to leave it beyond 4 hours as you will catch cold because of cooling properties of henna.
While washing your hair make sure you wash the hair thoroughly and the henna leaves your hair. Give your hair a shampoo wash the next day after applying henna so that your hair does not have any frizzy ends.
